Selena Slackus is recognized by
Continental Who’s Who among Educators. Selena is a Middle School Life Skills Support Teacher in the Pine Grove Area School District.
Selena teaches English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Health, as well as Life Skills to 5th-8th graders in the Pine Grove Area School District. Selena is proficient in creating engaging lessons and encouraging high level thinking and a love of learning among her students.
In addition, Selena integrates real world experience into daily classroom life to create lasting meaning for her Middle School students. Selena takes her students on community based instruction fieldtrips to teach them how to function in the community. Furthermore, Selena’s students are responsible for collecting left over meat scraps at lunch to distribute to animals at the local Ruth Steinert SPCA. Selena also incorporates technology into her teaching practice through overseeing her students as they create videos that show fellow students at Pine Grove what they need to do in order to help the SPCA. Additionally, Selena’s dedication to her students is also seen through daily in-class practice sessions for the school wide talent show which her students participate in as a group every year.
Selena received her BS.Ed in Elementary and Special Education and is currently attending Alvernia University to receive her Master’s Degree in Education with hopes to become a Special Education Supervisor. Selena is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society.
