My Colors Speak, Inc. is an Inclusive ABA/Art Program which uses Applied Behavior Analysis-A Research-Based type of therapy to help individuals of all ages find their talents and reach their behavioral goals. Our Specialty is treating individuals with Autism and other Neurodevelopmental conditions.
Founded by Vanessa Mejia in 2013, My Colors Speak uses art, specifically Expressionism as a tool to help individuals reach their customized goals. We work on a variety of goals, such as increasing one’s flexibility-Tolerance to unexpected changes in the environment, increasing one’s attending, communication, and social skills, among many other goals.
Ms. Mejia, Professional Artist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and Founder at My Colors Speak, Inc., was raised with significant exposure to the arts. Her upbringing fine-tuned her ability to understand expression through abstract art. She has practiced Behavioral Analysis for 8 years, specializing in autism and special needs. Working as a professional artist for nearly twice as long, Ms. Mejia has been featured in over 40 art shows on a global scale.
In 2003, Ms. Mejia was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University. She obtained a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling and a minor in Fine Arts. Ms. Mejia earned her Board Certification in Behavior Analysis and has a Master Teacher’s Certificate. She is also certified in Crisis Prevention, First Aid/CPR and Pro-ACT.
As a person of strong faith, Ms. Mejia
dedicates part of her free time to volunteering at The Rock Church. She has made donations to the
Colombian Education Scholarship Foundation, the Colombian Consulate in New
York and Beverly Hills, the Olivia Hudson Foundation, Kidsave
International, the Equal Footing Foundation, and Mandala Image
Productions.
Ms. Mejia has been sponsored by City Group to do a private Art Show at one of their locations in the US. She has been sponsored by Delta Airlines and by the Colombian Government to display her personal creations at the Colombian Consulate in Beverly Hills, California and in New York.
For recreation, Ms. Mejia enjoys playing table tennis, ping-pong and volleyball. To give back to her community, she serves at her church, wants to help impoverished and orphan children, and wants to continue spreading the word of God in her community and around the world.
