ALEXIOS G. CARAYANNOPOULOS, D.O., MPH - CEO AND FOUNDER/MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF THE COMPREHENSIVE SPINE CENTER

Boston, MA/ Continental Who’s Who/- Alexios G. Carayannopoulos, D.O., MPH, is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Healthcare. Dr. Carayannopoulos is the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Spine Center at Rhode Island Hospital and the CEO and Founder of Pain Spine & Rehabilitation (PSR) Consulting, Inc.

Driven by the mission to decrease the burden of pain and to elevate pain management for individuals in Rhode Island, Dr. Carayannopoulos co-founded the Comprehensive Spine Center within the Department of Neurosurgery in 2014. He then expanded his mission nationally by founding PSR in 2015. In order to fulfill these goals, Dr. Carayannopoulos and his team at Rhode Island Hospital offer clinical comprehensive spine care and engage in multiple clinical research projects. Through his consulting group in Boston, he also offers non-clinical comprehensive rehabilitation and pain management advisory services to ultimately lessen both the human and economic impact of injury and disability examinees, clients, and society as a whole.

A Harvard-trained medical acupuncturist and noted U.S. Navy trained expert in the areas of diving medicine and radiation health, Dr. Carayannopoulos has been in the industry for over fifteen years. In addition to his hospital work and consultancy, he is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he hopes to build a Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) and a Division of Pain Medicine.

Board Certified in both PM&R and Pain Medicine, Dr. Carayannopoulos maintains affiliation with the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, North American Neuromodulation Society, through which he serves on numerous national committees. Outside of his immediate field, he supports Doctors Without Borders and the American Cancer Society.

Dr. Carayannopoulos earned his Medical degree from Nova Southeastern University following receipt of his Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He then went on to complete his Residency at Harvard Medical School and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, with a Fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.
