Continental Who’s Who
Darren Desepoli
Executive Press ReleaseDARREN DESEPOLI - PROFESSIONAL WRITER
Darren Desepoli is recognized by Continental Who’s Who among America’s Professional Writers. Darren has always had a strong interest in African American culture and ancestry and was deeply inspired by Alex Haley after reading his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Roots: The Saga of An American Family.
As a result, Darren drove from New York to visit the Alex Haley House Museum in Henning, TN, where he felt truly honored to be on the front porch at the home which Darren considers that the story of Black History was communicated from. The front porch was often the place where young Alex heard the oral accounts of family history, including stories of Kunta Kinte, the young Mandingo man captured near his West African home.
After his visit to the museum and receiving a personal tour by the Program Director, Ms. Beverly Johnson was when Daren decided to launch his personal tribute site to Alex Haley and respectfully acknowledge the truly caring individual he was.
Darren’s tribute website to Alex Haley, (
http://www.alex-haley.com) quickly received recognition and was featured as one of the Best Author Tribute Websites by Very Best Sites where Douglas Adams wrote, “The mission of this website is to ‘spread Alex Haley’s vision for all to know their heritage.’ They quote Alex Haley—‘In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage—to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness.’ Alex Haley, author of Roots, was committed to making it possible for people to find out about their origins. This website aims to educate about Haley and to carry out his mission.”
