DEBORAH EWING-WILSON, DO - NEUROLOGIST

Cleveland, OH - Deborah Ewing-Wilson is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished Neurologist for her work in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of her work at University Hospitals.

As a respected Neurologist, Dr Ewing-Wilson is the Vice-Chair of the Neurology Department at University Hospitals. She has been in practice for forty years, and with University Hospitals for six years.

She first attended Wellesley College, graduating with her undergraduate degree. Dr. Ewing-Wilson completed an internship at Brentwood Hospital (now Southpointe). She then graduated from Midwestern University with her Doctor of Osteopathic medicine degree, followed by a residency at the Cleveland Clinic. She was the Chief Neurology Resident in 1987. Dr. Ewing-Wilson is board certified in neurology, sleep medicine, clinical neurophysiology, and electrodiagnostic and neuromuscular medicine.

Today, she works as the Vice-Chair of Operations for the Department of Neurology. The role involves overseeing daily operations for the UHMP and UHMG faculty outpatient and inpatient practices. Other responsibilities include devising and executing the University Hospital Neurological Institute's strategic goals. Dr. Ewing-Wilson assists the Department Chair with recruiting and training faculty members for the Community Neurology Center's clinical, education, and administrative programs. This ensures that they are able to uphold the high standards that the Neurological Institute maintains as a regional and national leader.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Ewing-Wilson worked at Kaiser Permanente for 13 years, treating patients as the Assistant Medical Director of Medical and Surgical Specialities from 1999-2009, and joining the Board of Directors of the Ohio Permanente Medical Group from 1996-2002. In 2010, Dr. Ewing-Wilson joined Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, where she worked first as the Assistant Medical Director for Resource Stewardship, and then was promoted to Chief of Neurology in 2008.

The doctor next took on a role as the Medical Director of Clinically Integrated Networks and Third-Party Payers at HealthSpan Physicians Inc. After joining as an Associate Medical Director of Resource Stewardship, she provided quality, affordable healthcare to patients in the Ohio area. She later became the Chief of Neurology, followed by Medical Director from 2015-2016. In her previous role at the Community Neurology Center, she trained medical students and residents who were on rotation.

On a personal note, Dr. Ewing-Wilson enjoys traveling, exercising, swimming, and spending time with her family.
