DIANE GRECO ALLEN - FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION & LIFESTYLE PRACTITIONER

Pittsburgh, PA - Prominently featured in The Inner Circle, Diane Greco Allen is acknowledged as a Pinnacle Professional of The Year for her contributions in Advancing Preventative Health Through Mindful Eating and Functional Nutrition.

Diane Greco Allen is a respected health coach and nutritional counselor whose work centers on the powerful relationship between food, lifestyle, and long-term wellness. As a mindful eating and living practitioner, she is widely recognized for her dedication to educating nurses, educators, families, and individuals on how nutrition and daily habits influence physical, metabolic, and emotional health.

Ms. Allen founded her health coaching practice in 2019 with a focused mission to address metabolic dysfunction and digestive challenges, particularly those that often surface as mental health concerns in children. Through education, coaching, and practical guidance, she empowers individuals and families to make informed food and lifestyle choices that support healing, balance, and prevention. Her work also extends to raising awareness around hidden food sensitivities, digestive disorders, and their broader impact on overall health.

With a strong clinical foundation, Ms. Allen began her career as a registered nurse after completing her training at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her associate degree in 1982 through a financial scholarship program. She went on to gain valuable clinical experience, including service at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and continuing on to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, where she specialized in cardiothoracic care. This experience continues to shape her holistic approach, allowing her to bridge traditional medical knowledge with functional and preventative health strategies.

Her educational background also includes one full year of study in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh from 1979 to 1980 prior to entering nursing school. In 2016, she further expanded her expertise by completing a Group Lifestyle Balance Training Workshop through the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health Diabetes Prevention Support program.

Ms. Allen holds certification as a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach from the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and is a Certified Functional Nutritional Counselor through the Functional Nutrition Alliance mentored by Andrea Nakayama. She also earned credentials as a Functional Nutrition and lifestyle Practitioner, further strengthening her ability to guide clients through personalized, sustainable wellness plans. In addition, she maintains certifications in food safety and kitchen management, supporting her work in both education and practical application of nutrition.

An accomplished author and speaker, Ms. Allen published It Might Be Your Pancreas: Pancreatitis Awareness and Natural Digestive Recovery in 2021. The book reflects her commitment to education and prevention, offering insight into digestive health and natural recovery strategies rooted in functional nutrition principles.

Beyond her professional work, Ms. Allen is passionate about mindful living and preventative health. She enjoys cooking, yoga, dancing, music, and spending time in nature, practices that align closely with the lifestyle principles she teaches. As a devoted mother of four and a proud grandmother, family remains central to both her personal life and professional vision.

Looking ahead, Ms. Allen plans to expand her coaching practice with a growing focus on working directly with families. Her goal is to help families cook together, build healthy routines, and develop lifelong eating habits that support wellness across generations. She has a deep appreciation for the Veteran population, active duty, and military families as a Marine Veteran parent. Through continued education, advocacy, and hands-on guidance, Diane Greco Allen remains committed to helping others achieve lasting health through mindful nourishment, healthier daily routines and intentional living.
