Cleveland Heights, OH—Dr. Andrew E. Sloan is being
recognized in the field of Medicine by Continental Who’s Who as a Top
Neurosurgeon for his role as a Surgeon and Cancer Specialist at the UH
Cleveland Medical Center.
Dr.
Sloan has over 29 years of experience in the field, and has served over 12
years at his current location. He joined University Hospitals and Case Western
Reserve University in 2007. Dr. Sloan is a board certified neurosurgeon,
physician-scientist and educator at the University Hospitals-Cleveland Medical
Center and the UH Seidman Cancer Center.
His area of expertise includes the neurosurgical management of brain
cancer, immunotherapy, spinal oncology, and Laser Interstitial Thermotherapy.
Dr. Sloan’s clinical research focuses on the biology and treatment of tumors of
the brain and spine. As to when Dr. Sloan became fascinated in aspects of the
brain, he states, “I have always been fascinated by cancer and neurology. My
interest in the brain started when I was in high school.”
Dr. Sloan earned his MD at Harvard Medical School, he served his internship in
general surgery and neurosurgical residency at UCLA, followed by completing a
fellowship in neurosurgical oncology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
In addition to serving in his current role, as Director of Brain Tumor and
Neuro-Oncology Center and the Center of Excellence for Translational
Neuro-Oncology, Dr. Sloan also serves on the editorial board of several
neurosurgical and scientific journals and is active in national surgical
organizations such as the American Association of Neurological Surgery (AANS)
and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group (ACOSOG).
Dr. Sloan has regularly appeared on national broadcasts as a brain cancer
expert. He has also been recognized by his peers as one of the “Best Doctors in
America” since 2003, as well as one of the “Top Surgeons in America”, since
2007. In 2014, he was elected as the President of the Ohio State Neurosurgical
Society (OSNS). He has also written over 185 publications in peer-reviewed
journals, as well as numerous editorials, reviews, and book chapters. He has appeared and been invited to over 525
presentations and currently holds four patents in investigational new drug
applications (IND).
When Dr. Sloan isn’t practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his
family and swimming.
