DR. DONALD A. MCCAIN, M.D., PH.D., F.A.C.S. - CHIEF OF SURGICAL ONCOLOGY AND VICE CHAIRMAN

Hackensack, NJ/ Continental Who’s Who/- Dr. Donald A. McCain M.D., PH.D., F.A.C.S. is recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Medicine as a result of Excellence in his roles as Chief of Surgical Oncology and Vice Chairman of the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.

 

As a Board Certified Surgical Oncologist, Dr. McCain is a well-qualified surgeon who has obtained additional training and experience in the multidisciplinary approach to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of cancer patients. Dr. McCain focuses his practice in the areas of melanoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, hepatobiliary cancer, as well as sarcomas and micromatasteses. In addition to his position with the John Theurer Cancer Center, Dr. McCain holds an academic appointment at UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School.

 

 Prior to joining the Medical Staff of Hackensack University Medical Center, Dr. McCain completed his Surgical Oncology fellowship at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He holds memberships in several key national and regional professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons; American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association; and the American Board of Surgery.

 

A true testament to his dedication and expertise, Dr. McCain has received numerous honors throughout his career in Oncology. He has been named among Top Physicians in New York Magazine, 2013, and honored as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor New York Metro Area 15th Edition, 2012. He has been recognized as a Top Doctor for Women’s Health, 2013 by Inside Jersey and Castle Connolly, named to America’s Top Oncologists, 2010 by Surgical Oncologist, as well as voted Nurse’s Choice by Top Doctors, NJ State Nurses Association, 2010. Dr. McCain was also listed among Top Bergen Doctors, 2013 in 201 Magazine and received America’s Top Surgeon Award, 2013; Inside NJ’s Top Doctors Award, 2013; NJ Monthly’s Top Doctors Award, 2010 and America’s Top Physician Award, 2007.

 

Dr. McCain earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from C.U.N.Y. in 1986, Master of Science in 1988 and Ph.D. in 1989 in Molecular Biophysics from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY Columbia University Graduate Programs. He continued on to receive his M.D. Degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1991.
