A graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine with Honors Research Distinction, Dr. Vania E. Fernandez is a highly distinguished double board-certified Anesthesiologist and fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Specialist. She received her post-graduate medical training at Jackson Memorial Hospital. For nearly 20 years, Dr. Fernandez has committed her career to best serving patients utilizing a multidisciplinary approach. She brings valuable knowledge and experience in performing interventional office-based procedures to decrease pain and improve her patients’ quality of life. Although an expert in spine pain, she treats pain in any area of the body. She works with a team of health care professionals at the Broward Spine Institute, to provide a full range of treatments for patients suffering from acute and/or chronic pain.
Located in Hollywood, Florida, the Broward Spine Institute has maintained a well-deserving reputation as a premier Comprehensive Pain Management Center. At the Broward Spine Institute, Dr. Fernandez works with a team of physicians to provide individualized care to each patient. She strives to help patients return to their activities of daily living without heavy reliance on medications. To accomplish this, she is devoted to relieving, reducing, or managing pain, and improving a patient’s overall quality of life through minimally invasive techniques specifically designed to diagnose and treat painful conditions. Prior to her current position, Dr. Fernandez worked as Faculty at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where she was involved in Research, Teaching, and Clinical Care. She has published numerous articles and written several book chapters. She has had affiliations with The University of Miami Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, The Sylvester Cancer Research Center, The University of Miami Outpatient Pain Management Center, and the Miami VA Medical Center. Remaining abreast of the latest developments in her field, Dr. Fernandez is an active member of local, state, and national professional societies and is also a Founding Faculty Member of the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
