J. Elizabeth Heflin, MD, FAAP
Executive Press Release J. ELIZABETH HEFLIN, MD, FAAP - PEDIATRICIAN
Wichita, KS—Dr. Elizabeth Heflin is being recognized by
Continental Who’s Who as a Top Pinnacle Healthcare Provider for her contributions
to the pediatric field.
Dr. Heflin earned a BA in music in 1990 and a BS
in biology in 1994, minoring in chemistry and English from Wichita State
University. She received an MD from the University of Kansas, School of
Medicine in Kansas City in 1998 and completed her pediatric residency at the
University of Kansas, Wichita Campus in 2001.
The doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics
(ABP) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). According
to Dr. Heflin, the mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying
pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous
learning and improvement. The doctor is a pediatric hospitalist seeing
in-patients from newborns to age 21 years. She provides sedation for patient
procedures, and also sees patients in the ICU and other sick newborns that do
not require intensive care.
Dr. Heflin serves patients at Ascension via Christi in Wichita Kansas. She
provides hospital care for infants’ children and teens delivering care in the
newborn nursery for both sick and well infants on the pediatric medical floor
and intermediate-level PICU. The doctor notes that she starts by listening to
understand children and their health and works to create a personalized care
plan that is right for them. According to Dr. Heflin, pediatrics is the branch
of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and
adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals is under
pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to from
newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine diagnose and treat
children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their
developmental stages as they grow and mature. She has worked in the medical
field for more than 23 years.
