GRACE ADOLPHSEN BRAME, PH.D. - GRACE BRAME

Continental Who’s Who recognizes Grace Adolphson Brame, Ph. D. as a Pinnacle Professional.

From the Greensboro, High Point, and Colfax, NC area, Continental Who’s Who recognizes Grace Adolphson Brame, Ph. D. as a Pinnacle Professional in the Integration of Spirituality and Theology. She is an Author, Professor, Lecturer, Professional Singer, and Retreat Leader.

Dr. Brame emphasizes four major foci. First is Spirituality as rooted in the practice of meditation which she teaches in the form of Receptive Prayer. Second is the result of a giving, transformative relationship with God and others. Third is learning to think critically about Theology and Practice, using reflective evaluations which can be developed only after a person reaches their teens. Last is a unique understanding of the meaning of the Death of Jesus, based on the prophetic, rather than the common understanding of the priestly approach to Sacrifice.

She has taught Theology, Spirituality, and Comparative Religion at Villanova University and most recently in the Graduate Religion Department of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA. She has

published in over forty different journals, such as as The Christian Century, The Lutheran, Worship, Sisters Today, and Spirituality Today. In addition, Grace is the author of four books and a contributor to a number of others. She discovered, compiled, and introduced four of Evelyn Underhill’s five missing retreats, published as The Ways of the Spirit. In 2010, she was awarded the National First Prize for Non Fiction, given by the National Press Association for her book: The Cross: Payment or Gift? Rethinking the Death of Jesus.

Grace has been a goodwill representative for the United States government through her singing as a mezzo-soprano in various countries. In the former Soviet Union, her first concert for Moscow’s

international diplomatic community broke the arts embargo between the USA and USSR. In France, her concerts were preceded by several radio interviews. Grace served as the keynote speaker in Tanzania, Africa, for a national church women's conference. There she also led a retreat on “The Highs and Lows of the Spiritual Path.” She concertized there and investigated the needs of Tanzanians. She has spoken and sung in the USA, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.

Her Ph. D. in Religion from Temple University, Philadelphia, focused on the Integration of Theology and Spirituality in the work of Evelyn Underhill. She holds two masters degrees: a Master of Sacred

Music in Voice and Conducting, with Theological and Biblical Studies, from Union Theological Seminary in New York City, and a master’s in Comparative Religions and Methods of Religious Studies from Temple University. Her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice and Conducting was received from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio.
