Glen Burnie, Md.—Continental Who’s Who recognizes Iva Benson as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in recognition of her contributions to Government.
Benson serves in the Office of the Attorney General of the Maryland Department of Agriculture. She utilizes expertise in communications, client relations, research, organizational management and networking.
With over 14 years of legal experience, Benson has been a part of the team at the Attorney General’s office for one year. Prior to her current employment, she worked at a law firm as a legal secretary for 13 years.
“I work with four different attorneys,” Benson said. “I do a variety of things and I like all of it, but my favorite part of the job is working with agriculture litigation.”
To further her professional development, Benson is a member of the National Association of Professional Women. She has also completed courses in business management and writing, psychology and legal studies.
When not working, Benson enjoys spending time with family and volunteering with local food banks, including Food & Friends and So Others May Eat. “I’m all over the place with volunteering,” Benson said. “Community service is my #1 favorite. That’s what I really like to do.” Her volunteer duties include not just preparing food for the homeless, but also delivering food to people with HIV and cancer, as well as collecting and delivering clothes and essentials – including toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap and other toiletries.
Benson dedicates this recognition to her children, Jeffrey, Ijaeé, Ivana and Elbert III. She also has four grandchildren.
