Mr. Utt is a seasoned mathematics educator and National Board Certified Teacher serving T. Benton Gayle Middle School in Stafford County, Virginia. With more than 20 years in education, he helps learners strengthen their mathematical skills, build confidence, and reach their academic potential. His prior service as a mathematics specialist further underscores his leadership and impact. Beyond classroom instruction, he serves as a club advisor and actively supports student enrichment and mentoring.

A hallmark of Mr. Utt’s career is his commitment to student leadership development. He has founded Junior Beta clubs at two schools, including establishing the T. Benton Gayle Middle School Junior Beta Club in 2021. Through his work with Junior Beta clubs and National Junior Honor Society chapters, he has expanded opportunities for students to cultivate leadership, pursue academic excellence, and contribute meaningfully to their school communities. 

Mr. Utt’s academic preparation reflects a sustained pursuit of professional growth. He earned a B.A. in Government and Public Policy in 2003 and an M.A.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2006 from the College of William & Mary, followed by additional graduate studies in gifted education and mathematics education. He completed an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership with Licensure from Old Dominion University in 2018 and a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics from Radford University in 2024.

His professional affiliations include Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, National Education Association, and Phi Delta Kappa International. Honors include International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) Top Educator of the Year for 2026; Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2023; Phi Delta Kappa Distinguished Educator in 2019; Kappa Delta Pi Teacher of Honor in 2010 and Master Teacher of Honor in 2021; and the Meritorious New Teacher Designation early in his career.

Guided by the values of persistence and determination, as well as the support of family, friends, and mentors, Mr. Utt remains dedicated to lifelong learning and service. Looking ahead, he plans to pursue a doctorate and continue working to make a positive, lasting impact on the school communities he serves.
