
Bala Cynwyd, PA - Joan M. Mack,
M.D., is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in
recognition of her contributions to the Healthcare field.
Established since 1918, "Mercy Philadelphia has provided high-quality,
compassionate healthcare services, education and outreach." Its mission "is
carried out by physicians, nurses and clinical experts who treat [patients] as
an individual." A crucial part of the Mercy Health System, the community
healthcare facility helps in providing patients with the quality care that they
deserve. Dedicated to utilizing the
latest advancements in medical technology in an effort to better serve their
patients, the institution is comprised of over 6,500 healthcare employees.
Dr. Mack is retired from her former role as the Director of Radiology at Mercy
Hospital of Philadelphia. A prominent expert within the field, Dr. Mack is
revered for her contributions to the field. Amassing over thirty years of
experience in the field, Dr. Mack held the role of Director of Radiology
beginning in 2007. Having accrued several years of experience throughout her
career, Dr. Mack has specialized in areas including diagnostic radiology,
nuclear medicine, mammography, management and oversight of operations.
Throughout the course of her educational career and prior to enrolling in
medical school, Dr. Mack's career aspirations led her to dental school. Thereafter,
Dr. Mack attained her Medical degree from St. George's University School of
Medicine following the completion of both her Bachelor of Science and Master of
Science degrees from Long Island University. Later, Dr. Mack completed her
Residency at Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, New York; a fellowship in Nuclear
Medicine at New York University; and a fellowship in Nuclear Medicine at the
University of Connecticut.
To further her professional
development, Dr. Mack was an affiliate of several organizations including the Society
of Nuclear Medicine, American College of Radiology, American College of Nuclear
Physicians, and Radiology Society of North America.
When asked her advice to newcomers in the industry, Dr. Mack states "Don't go
into medicine for the money. You have to love it to do medicine." Attributing
her determination as the key to her success, Dr. Mack states that "it is still
a man's world in medicine."
When not working, Dr. Mack enjoys sewing, cross-country skiing, sailing and
traveling.
