
Carmel, IN ‒ Jonathan Saxe, MD, is being recognized by
Continental Who’s Who as a Distinguished General Surgeon for his years of
exceptional work in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his work at Naab
Road Surgery Group.
Jonathan Saxe, MD, has over three decades of experience
providing excellent care to his patients. Dr. Saxe’s 30 years of practice and
knowledge in his field have prepared him to handle even the most complex cases
for surgeries. He strives to have the best outcome for every patient that he
sees. He is currently researching efforts to lead St. Vincent's Indianapolis as
they become a Level 1 Trauma Center.
As a highly educated physician, Dr. Saxe has received extensive training. Dr.
Saxe first attended Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, earning his Bachelor
of Science degree in Biology and General Biological Sciences in 1980. He then
earned his Medical degree from the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit,
Michigan, in 1985. He then completed his residency in General Surgery, and a
Fellowship in Trauma Surgery, both at Wayne State School of Medicine. Dr. Saxe
earned a Masters degree in Theology/Religious Studies from Liberty University
in Lynchburg, Virginia. In 2013, he went back to school at Brandeis University,
where he earned his Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
He is board-certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the
American Board of Surgery (ABS).
Extensively published in his fields of expertise, Dr. Saxe has more than 50
publications to his name. He has written about colectomy, cancer, mortality,
readmissions, and the cost of surgery, and participated in multiple medical
research studies.
He has had a long career in various areas of the medical field. Dr. Saxe first
took a job as the Staff General Surgeon at Southwestern Medical Group from
1994-1998. He then moved to a position as the Section Chief of the Trauma
Department at the Medical College of Ohio. He stayed in that role from
1998-2002, helping patients in the Ohio area. Dr. Saxe next worked as a
Professor of Surgery at Wright State University from 2004-2014, teaching the
next generation of surgeons the proper techniques and processes to be
exceptional physicians. Dr. Saxe moved to a role as the Program Director of
General Surgical Residency at St. Vincent’s Health beginning in 2015, where he
still works today. Dr. Saxe also teaches Osteopathic Medicine at Marian
College, and is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Indiana University College of
Medicine.
On a personal note, Dr. Saxe enjoys spending time with his four adult children
and five grandchildren. He is an avid reader. Dr. Saxe is passionate about
giving back to his community and providing medical care abroad. He has been
going on Medical Mission Trips with the College of Christian Surgeons for over
ten years, with the goal of providing medical training to physicians in poorer
countries.
