
Duncan, SC - Julie C. Martin, DNP, AOCN, NP is being
recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Trusted Certified Nurse Practitioner
and Director of Research for her work in the medical field and in
acknowledgment of her work at Prisma Health Cancer Institute.
As a seasoned Certified Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Julie C.
Martin, DNP, AOCN, NP, has been practicing medicine for over 35 years, with
over 20 years of experience in leadership positions.
Dr. Martin earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of
South Carolina in 1988. In 2002, Dr. Martin graduated from Clemson University
with a Master of Science in Nursing degree (MSN), Nurse Practitioner track. Dr.
Martin returned to college once again, graduating from Chatham University with
a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree in 2015. She is recognized as an
Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse.
Dr. Martin began working at Greenville Health System in 1989. In 2002, she
began a new role at Prisma Health Cancer Institute as a Nurse Practitioner, and
she has been treating patients at this clinic for over 17 years. Dr. Martin was
named Director of Cancer Research at the facility in 2016. She currently
oversees cancer research activity spanning the entire Cancer Institute inpatient
and outpatient and principally includes the National Cancer Institute Clinical
Oncology Research Program (NCORP), the Institute for Translational Oncology
Research (ITOR), the Center for Integrative Oncology and Survivorship (CIOS),
Nursing and Allied Health, and Center for Cancer Prevention and Wellness.
Responsibilities include providing overall leadership and direction for the
technical research staff; mentoring, coaching, and guiding young investigators
of the Cancer Institute; and acting as a key resource for grant writing and
exterior funding opportunities.
She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Academy of
Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Martin is also the Associate Editor for the Department
of Evolving Foundations for the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing.
Throughout her career, Dr. Martin is always learning new things and taking
courses to keep her knowledge up to date in Hematology and Medical Oncology.
She attributes her success to the guidance and support of her mentors and
employer. Today, Dr. Martin acts as a mentor to younger nursing professionals.
She has been awarded as a 2013 Health Care Hero: Health Care Professional, GSA
Business, and 2007 Nurse Practitioner Excellence Award. She is also a member of
the Upstate Nurse Practitioner Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Martin enjoys supporting community activities such as
Run 4 Life and the Upstate Dragon Boat Festival, where she serves as team
captain each year. She enjoys relaxing on the beach with a good book and
teaching music to kids Creative Praise at her local faith family, Church at the
Mill.
Dr. Martin would like to dedicate this honorable recognition to her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald and Amelia Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald and Harriett
Coleman, and her husband of 33 years, Mr. Ben Martin. Dr. Martin enjoys
spending time with her son, Caleb, daughter-in-law, Alyssa, and first grandson,
Grady, who just turned 1 year old.
