She subsequently obtained a Ph.D. with concentrations in Health Psychology and Neuropsychology in the USA. Since 1995, a major area of her interest and work has been chronic illness management, including those with chronic pain, cardiac, pulmonary, and neurological concerns, as well as their caregivers. Dr. Levin also has a dedicated interest in trauma, including child, adult and elder abuse. She worked on the Commission to Combat Domestic Violence for the New York Mayor’s Office and published a Medical Providers Guide to Managing the Care of Domestic Violence Patients within a Cultural Context.

With passion for educating students with the goal of ensuring that patients receive optimal care, Dr. Levin currently serves as a Director of Patient Care for the Medical Doctor Program at New York Medical College and as Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine. She has a special interest in the creation of a curriculum for medical students to learn how to effectively provide care to those living with apparent or non-apparent disabilities. In addition to her responsibilities at medical school, Dr. is also a core faculty member for a doctoral clinical psychology program, where she teaches neuropsychology, health psychology, and psychological assessment. Dr Levin runs a research lab, with a focus on chronic illnesses including Long COVID and mental health. She has contributed substantially to academic scholarship with research publications.

Dr. Levin’s professional affiliations include serving as a board member of the New York State Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. She is also affiliated with the American Psychological Association, the International Association for the Study of Pain, and the Health Professions Council of South Africa.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Levin enjoys her children, pets, travel, nature, music and theater. She expresses deep gratitude to her parents, Brenda and Ivan Katz, and her children, Kiki and Josh, for their continued love and support.

Looking ahead, Dr. Levin remains committed to advancing compassionate, evidence-based care while improving healthcare systems through a patient-centered approach. Guided by a philosophy that meaningful healing begins when individuals feel heard and understood, she continues to advocate for care models that place the human experience at the center of medicine.
