MARIO J. REYNA - COORDINATOR OF HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION & AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM

Mario J. Reyna is commended by Continental Who’s Who for his exceptional dedication in Child Wellness and Fitness, Health and Physical Activities in Education.  Mario is Coordinator of Health/Physical Education and After School Enrichment Programs where he oversees 25,000 students K-12, manages the ASEP and provides after school activities.  Mario shows strength in public speaking, and team building leadership all with a positive attitude in which he proves to overcome challenges.

Continental Who’s Who recognizes Mario J. Reyna’s excellence holding a Masters Degree in Education from the University Texas where he completed all graduate work with a 4.0 GPA.  Mario is highly regarded in the organizations he is affiliated, including, The Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD) composed of over 4,500 professionals and students serving Kindergarten to College, being the first Hispanic and only person from Rio Grande Valley elected as President, member of American Alliance for Health, Physical Education Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), a non-profit organization serving as the only Texas member on the Ad-Hoc Committee. As well, Mario is a member of Texas School Health Advisory Committee (TSHAC) and the National Association for Sports and Physical Education (NASPE), the only member that is certified reviewer for the STARS program.

Mario J. Reyna is applauded by Continental Who’s Who for the awards he is honored, 1997 McAllen I.S.D. District Teacher of the Year, to date the only physical education teacher in district to have earned such an honor, the 2006 TAHPERD Honor Award and in 2009 the Hidalgo County Proclamation award.  He contributes to the community by helping combat the epidemic of childhood obesity and adult obesity in McAllen and in the Rio Grande Valley area as the McAllen I.S.D. Coordinator for Health/Physical Education.
