Led by respected endodontic specialist, Dr.
O’Banion, Capital Endodontics offers expert professional care in two of their
state of the art facilities at 6670 Perimeter Drive, Suite 250 in Dublin, Ohio
and at 26 East Main Street in Lexington, Ohio. With an overall nearly 20 year
specialty experience, both locations provide a wide array of endodontic
procedures including, root canal therapy, endodontic retreatment, regenerative
procedures, apicoectomy surgery, reimplantation, treatment of dental trauma and
dental emergencies.
An acclaimed endodontist, Dr. O’Banion has devoted his skills to serving
patients at Capital Endodontics for many years. He specializes in utilizing
cutting edge equipment, including surgical microscopes, endoscopes, digital
radiography, nickel-titanium rotary instrumentation, CBCT 3D X-Ray, ultrasonics
and Fotona lasers. Dr. O’Banion continuously strives to learn the newest
techniques to provide the highest standard of professional care.
To prepare for his career, Dr. O’Banion graduated Summa Cum Laude from Southern
Illinois School of Dental Medicine in 1998, where he earned his Doctor of
Dental Medicine and was also valedictorian. Furthering his studies, he attended
a General Practice Residency at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland,
Ohio in 1999. He then earned his Endodontic Specialty Certificate from the
University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001.
A frontrunner in his field, Dr. O’Banion has maintained active memberships with
the American Association of Endodontics, Illinois Endodontic Association, Edgar
D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club, Ohio Endodontic Association, Spear Study
Club, Sfumato and Seattle Study Clubs.
In recognition of his educational and professional successes, Dr. O’Banion is a
recipient of several awards throughout his career. He is most proud earning his
Board Certified with the American Board of Endodontics, which is a rigorous
process including a written examination, challenging case presentations, and
oral evaluation. He is now considered a Diplomate with the ABE. He received the
Student Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity Award, for graduating with
the highest class rank. Additionally, he received the Omicron Kappa Upsilon
Award four consecutive years, Periodontal Surgery Award, ICOI Pre-Doctoral
Implant achievement award, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Award, Paul W. Clopper
Memorial Foundation and Illinois Hospital Scholarship awards.
Dr. O’ Banion has always strived for and maintained an impeccably clean office.
His standards have always met or exceeded the various OSHA, ADA , and CDC
guidelines. He uses many one-time-use materials, sterilizing procedures at
Capital Endodontist utilize a Hydrim instrument washer. This is the latest
technology in instrument reprocessing.
Further, our autoclave is tested with an SPS Medical Steam plus
Sterilizer Integrator in each and every cycle, ensuring sterile instruments and
never cross contamination.
With the new COVID-19 guidelines, Dr. O’Banion once again rises to the
challenge. At Capital Endodontist you can expect the utmost in disinfection.
All surfaces, including doorknobs are wiped down, patients are prescreened, and
our scheduling promotes social distancing. We have acquired additional PPE
including gowns, and surgical caps, N95 masks, face shields and acrylic shields
at the front desk counters. Behind the scenes, he and his staff use air
purifying systems using UV-C light to turn over and disinfect the room air in
approximately 5 minutes providing surgically clean air. Additionally, we
utilize room fogging machines to disinfect treatment areas in between every
patient in addition to standard CDC guidelines.
When not providing incredible service for his patients, Dr. O’Banion keeps busy
with many hobbies and interests. He stays busy my reading the latest endodontic
journals. He also enjoys cycling, running, triathlons, drawing, painting,
listening to music and hanging out with friends and family.
