Dr. Michael Rezak, MD, Ph.D., DBe, is a renowned neurologist specializing in the treatment of complex movement disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, tremors, and Tardive dyskinesia (TD). Serving patients locally at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Dr. Rezak brings years of expertise to the community, taking a compassionate, ethical approach that focuses on treating the whole patient and engaging family members in care discussions to ensure a comprehensive treatment experience.

With a distinguished academic background, Dr. Rezak earned a BS in psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee, an MS in psychology from Bradley University, and a Ph.D. in brain anatomy from the University of Illinois Medical Center. His medical training continued with an MD and Doctor of Bioethics (DBe) from Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine. He completed an internship at Rush University/Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital, a neurology residency at Rush University and Yale New Haven Hospital, and a specialized fellowship in movement disorders at Yale New Haven Hospital. Dr. Rezak is board-certified in neurology, underscoring his commitment to advancing the highest standards of neurological care.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rezak is an active member of prominent organizations, including the International Movement Disorders Society, the American Academy of Neurology, and the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities. He serves on the Ethics Committee for Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, reflecting his strong commitment to the ethical aspects of medical care. Inspired by his mentors, Dr. Steven Waxman, Dr. Melvin Wichter, and the late Dr. Anthony Fazio, Dr. Rezak upholds a philosophy rooted in integrity, emphasizing that the doctor-patient relationship is built on trust, respect, and open communication.
