A seasoned professional with decades of experience in the hospitality service sector, Mr Batt has established himself as a creative operational expert across Europe, Asia, and North America. Currently based in Miami, Fla., he served for 35 years with Club Méditerranée (Club Med), a French corporation that owns and manages a chain of all-inclusive vacation resorts.
During his career, Mr. Batt has garnered broad expertise in product design, delivery and execution. Known as a passionate leader, he is skilled at building talented, culturally diverse teams focused on producing bottom-line results and achieving operational excellence. He has been recognized for his strategic and forward-looking approach.
Mr. Batt began his hospitality career with Club Med in 1986 as a snow ski instructor in the French Alps and tennis pro in the Caribbean and was promoted in 1995 to Resort General Manager. His responsibilities included the management of seven resorts across five geographically diverse regions, including Thailand, Ireland, the United States, the Caribbean, and Mexico. In 2003, he was promoted to Product Director within the company's Miami, FL region. In this role, he was instrumental in dramatically increasing sales through strategic partnerships and product development and led the upscale and digital transformation of the Americas in collaboration with Global Headquarters.
From 2012 to 2022, Mr. Batt served as Club Med's Vice President of Operations, Product, and Development, where he was responsible for managing nine international resorts with over 5,000 employees and service providers. He demonstrated pronounced skill and expertise while leading the resorts under his watch through the operational consequences of the COVID crisis. Under his tutelage, Club Med opened two new flagship resorts, including Miches in the Dominican Republic and Quebec Charlevoix. He was also instrumental in the expansion projects of Punta Cana, Cancun, and Guadeloupe, which were top-performing resorts.
With the hospitality sector now in a robust rebound from COVID, Mr. Batt says he is seeking to reinvent himself and find new challenges and opportunities within an evolving global market. He wants to leverage all his expertise and network to create a place where he would want to spend the next 20 years of his life. Traveling the world, he can honestly say he hasn't found this place yet. He wants to create and manage the ultimate living concept or vacation destination that revolves around an active lifestyle and a place where you can unlock a happier and healthier lifestyle, a place we can all call home.
In pursuit of his higher education, Mr. Batt attended the McGill MBA Executive Institution AMC program in 2003. He additionally holds multiple hospitality certifications, including Management Principles, Attention to Detail, Crisis Management, Luxury Service, and Cristal Hygiene Standards.
Outside of work, Mr. Batt challenges himself to the occasional triathlon or marathon and supports the Ocean Conservancy and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
