Dr. Abusalbi began his career as a research assistant professor for the
University of Minnesota in 1981-1982 and was an assistant professor with the
University of Houston in 1982-1984. He joined the industry as a software
development engineer for Schlumberger in 1984 and rose through the ranks until
he became the vice president and director of corporate university relations in
2011. He developed a patent for "Method and System for Data Context
Service" in 2008 and was also a valued member of the American Physics
Society; the American Chemical Society; and Harvard Business Review Industry
Advisory Board, among several other professional organizations.
The doctor has published more than 20 cited papers in physics and chemistry and
has worked in the field for more than 35 years. He has been an independent
advisor since early 2018, he has focused his efforts on mentoring others in his
field of expertise, guiding them to make the best possible decisions to
progress their careers.
Dr. Abusalbi served on the industry advisory board of the Norway-Texas
Petroleum Research Alliance and on the technical committee of the Geoscientists
without Borders of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists Foundation. He also
chaired the online communities' advisory committee of the Society of Petroleum
Engineers and their executive committee on education.
