Specializing in the physiology and psychology behind brain changes during meditation, Nancy is a leading expert in mindfulness meditation. She began her illustrious forty plus year scientific career trying to understand the unexpected changes in behavior caused by peripheral norepinephrine (in rats) by studying the principal neuromodulating system of which it is a part.  Extremely passionate about her line of work, Nancy states “it’s a calling.”

Initially beginning her educational career with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University in New York City, Nancy went on to attend the University of South Carolina-Columbia. Despite being retired, she continues to keep abreast of the latest in the field through continued exploration of the neuroscientific basis for the beneficial effects of meditation on the mind and body.
