San Carlos, CA — Pamela Garzone, Ph.D., is being recognized
by Continental Who's Who as an Exceptional
Woman in Biotechnology for her distinguished career in the Medical Research
field and in acknowledgment of her outstanding work as Chief Development Officer
at Anixa Biosciences, Inc.
In her current role as Chief Development Officer at Anixa
Biosciences, Inc., Ms. Garzone specializes in clinical trials in immunology and
cancer. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, Anixa is a biotechnology company focused
on treating and preventing cancer and infectious diseases. She has been in her
current position since September 2021.
Anixa's therapeutics portfolio includes a cancer immunotherapy program that
uses a novel type of CAR-T, known as chimeric endocrine receptor T-cell (CER-T)
technology, and a COVID-19 therapeutics program focused on inhibiting certain
viral protein functions. Anixa's vaccine portfolio consists of technology
focused on the immunization against specific "retired" proteins
associated with breast cancer, specifically triple-negative breast cancer
(TNBC) and ovarian cancer. Retired proteins are proteins expressed at certain
times in life and are no longer expressed in healthy people. Anixa continually
examines emerging technologies in complementary fields for further development
and commercialization.
In pursuit of higher education, Ms. Garzone attended the University of
Pittsburgh and obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Research in the late 1980s. Since
establishing her career, she has received the University of Pittsburgh
Distinguished Alumni Award and published works, including an updated chapter on
clinical pharmacology.
Among her professional memberships and affiliations, Ms. Garzone is a member of
the Society of Immunology and Cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology
(ASCO), and Women in Bioscience.
Ms. Garzone attributes her success to her love of research, setting clinical
trials, and training and mentoring others. Her perseverance, hard work, and
passion for the profession have all been essential. She considers her most
significant career accomplishment to have been a great success for the people
she has hired and mentored (including C-Suite positions). Looking ahead, Ms.
Garzone hopes to mentor and coach others while expanding her professional
network and obtaining a seat on the Board of Directors.
