New York, NY — Rajiv K. Chander, MD. is being recognized by
Continental Who’s Who as an Exceptional
Healthcare Professional in the Medical field and in acknowledgment of his
work as a vascular and general surgeon.
Dr. Chander is in practice at Saint Joseph’s Medical
Practice PC in Yonkers, NY, and at the Veterans Administration Hospital (VA) in
New York. He has been with the VA for eight years and with Saint Joseph’s for
two years.
Dr. Chander received dual undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and chemistry
from Rutgers University and earned his medical degree from the Ross University
School of Medicine. He completed his residency in general surgery at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine and his fellowship in vascular surgery at the
University of Maryland.
As a testament to his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in
vascular surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).
According to Dr. Chander, ABS is an independent non-profit organization located
in Philadelphia, PA, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have
met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
Dr. Chander notes that vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which
diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic
circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally invasive catheter
procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats
and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood
vessels. These specialists treat various health problems from spider and
varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms and can help patients manage
chronic conditions throughout their lives.
Dr. Chander enjoys his work and has developed many complex surgery programs at
the VA. He is very proud of the great outcomes his patients have after surgery
due to his attention to detail. Dr.
Chander hopes to continue to perform surgeries without complications. He is also an Assistant Professor at New York
Medical College, where he is glad to help prepare the next generation of
healthcare professionals.
In his spare time, the doctor enjoys spending time with his family, especially
his 20-month-old son.
