
Tempe, AZ — Richard J. Whitman Jr. M.D. is being recognized by Continental Who’s Who as a Top Doctor for his outstanding contributions in the field of Medicine and his professional excellence as a General Surgeon.
Dr. Richard J. Whitman is a well-seasoned and
board-certified General Surgeon currently practicing medicine within his
private practice. For the past 38 years, he has utilized his repertoire of
expertise in general and laparoscopic surgery to best serve his patients. He is
continuously demonstrating the highest level of professionalism, leadership,
and integrity in his current capacity.
In light of his academic achievements, Dr. Whitman earned his Medical Degree
from the University of Michigan Medical School and then completed his internship
and residency at Detroit Medical Center and Sinai Detroit. With a commitment to
excellence, Dr. Whitman is Board Certified in Surgery from the American Board
of Surgery and Board Certified from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
When he is not practicing medicine at his practice, Dr. Whitman devotes his
time to traveling internationally on charity missions. He has traveled to
Kucuma and Lodwar, Kenya, Tanzania, Haiti, and the Philippines. In recognition
of his outstanding contributions to the missions, Dr. Whitman received numerous
certificates.
Dr. Whitman would like to dedicate this honorable recognition to his father,
Richard J. Whitman Sr, who was a mechanic. He was trained in the United States
Army at Hampton Institute, now Hampton University, and served in the Pacific
Theater in Okinawa Japan during World War II. He also dedicates this to his
elementary school science teacher; Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Alexander Jefferson,
USAF (Ret), a Tuskegee airman and prisoner of war; and Dr. Sal Sawka, Chief of
Surgery during my five years of surgical training. He would also like to
acknowledge Dr. Leon Sullivan who encouraged our group to establish open heart
surgery and laparoscopic surgery in West Africa (Senegal).
