Dr. Ross pursued higher education at Rowan University in 1998 where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) in computer science. He then attended Monmouth University where he obtained a Master of Science (MS) in computer science and later received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in computer and information sciences with a focus on command and control from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2019.

With more than 15 years of experience in cybersecurity and information warfare, Dr. Ross is currently the Hub Director at The Cyber Fusion Innovation Center at Defensewerx. He has achieved many accomplishments during his career, including conducting extensive research; publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals; and being involved in the development of innovative technology in the cyberspace domain. The doctor also has enjoyed a 30-year career in the military where he notes that he spent approximately half of his career as an artillery officer and a decade as a cyberspace officer at the U.S. Army Cyber Command where he served as a senior cyber research scientist; assistant professor; and information warfare team lead. 

Throughout his illustrious career, the doctor has received many accolades including membership in the Order of Saint Barbara, a military honor society; and the Order of Thor, which recognizes excellence in the American military cyber community. He has also been decorated with two Bronze Stars and a Legion of Merit Award.
