Dr. Karuppiah is a recognized expert in the field of minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery, along with complex cranial and spinal surgeries, degenerative spine diseases, spinal deformities, kyphosis, scoliosis, spinal fractures, trauma, spinal tumors, and spinal infections. His specialties also include spinal fusion, decompression, disc replacement, and revision surgery using minimally invasive techniques and robotic assistance. Additionally, the doctor treats brain tumors, hydrocephalus, stroke, brain trauma, brain infections and peripheral nerve pathologies. 

Dr. Karuppiah prepared for his career by earning a medical degree from Madras Medical College in India. He also completed Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery residency (MS) training at PGIMER, Chandigarh, a premier residency training institute in India. He was the recipient of the “Diplomate of National Board (DNB)” and “Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS)” in India; received national level awards for his research and presentations in India; and has more than 15 peer reviewed publications. Dr. Karuppiah immigrated to the United States to perform his Surgical Internship at the Creighton University School of Medicine, after which he completed his Neurosurgical residency training at the University of Florida College of Medicine (UF), Gainesville, FL. Recognized for his unmatched skills and knowledge, he was the recipient of “Lister’s Neuroanatomy Case Conference High Scorer Award” during his training.

Board-certified in Neurological Surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and is one of the high scorers in ABNS written board. He notes that the broad aim of the ABNS is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health. Dr. Karuppiah is also board certified in Neurological Surgery by the “Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons” (FRCS). A renowned leader in the field, Dr. Karuppiah has earned many accolades during his career including the honor of “Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS)”. The doctor explained that the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) is a scientific and educational association focused on advancing the specialty of neurological surgery. The organization has more than 8,000 members around the world. It is one of the five Continental Associations of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS). Both Royal College and AANS develops and administers a continuing professional development program called Maintenance of Certification (MOC) that requires Fellows to engage in certain activities to maintain their competence throughout their careers. Dr. Karuppiah holds aMaster of Surgery in Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery from PGIMER, Chandigarh, India and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations in ENT, New Delhi, India.

Dr. Karuppiah was instrumental in the development and ACS certification of the state-art HCA Florida Ocala Health Trauma Center, where he held the position of Neurotrauma Surgeon In-charge. He was known for complex and high-standard brain and spinal trauma surgeries to help improve the neurotrauma care in the community. He held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at University of Florida (UF) and currently is holding the position of Medical Director of Neurological Surgery at Advent Health of Ocala, FL, where he is well known for Minimally Invasive & Robotic Spinal surgeries and his commitment to the care to improve the quality of the human life. The doctor serves as Clinical Adjunct Faculty at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) educating outstanding medical student physicians who are dedicated to the premise that the cornerstone of meaningful existence is service to humanity. He also contributed to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and educational programs for hospital staffs and trainees. He leveraged his skills in hospitals, healthcare management, and nursing to ensure optimal patient outcomes, safety, and satisfaction.
